Dear Parents,

  As your child makes the exciting journey through first grade this year, we will be focusing on a year-long theme.  Our Journey theme is about learning, growing, and becoming the best we can be.

During the first marking period we are learning about Journeys Past.  the children have been exploring the past as they learn about when they were born, how they got their names, how they have changed since they were babies and what their past school experience was like.

I would like each child to develop a time-line that shows the important events in his/her life from the time s/he was born until now.  Your child’s homework assignment for the next two weeks is to work on this project.  Please sent it to school when it’s finished so your child can share it with the class.  We would like to display it at school, but it will be returned to you.

The time-line can include photos, drawings, writing and artifacts, such as, a certificate, a ticket or program from a show, a letter or card, a souvenir from a trip, etc..

Requirements:

Each entry should be dated and include your child’s age (An approximate date and age is fine.)

We should be able to hang the time-line on the bulletin board.  Each entry shold be somehting that is important or meaningful to your child so s/he can explain the time-line to the class.

I hope this will be a fun project for you and your child.  Remember, “The Journey is it’s own reward.”
